A few of you joined me for my 2025 month-by-month tarot reading. If I were to narrow it down to a few keywords, removing the swear words, it would be:

We’re looking at a year of unhinged madness beyond our wildest imaginings of unhinged as demonstrated in the later career of the talented Kathy Bates.

Years like this are why I prefer to focus on single-person issues. My advice, such as it is, is to shore up, evaluate your responsibilities, and protect what you can in the most practical ways. The download is mom-style financial advice because that’s what Spirit tells me I need to share from my knowledge pool. I can go back to spooky things again soon!

For those with the means, practical protections may include:
Cleaning up your credit reports and combing them for mistakes
Freezing your credit - because the cyber attacks this year are about to go overboard.
If you have the means, purchase a home warranty on top of your home insurance. These plans typically cover repairs for common damages up to around $4K, depending on the plan.
If you rent, ask your car insurer about apartment insurance. It’s often very low cost on its own and often pays for itself in the discount you get if you have it with your car insurance. If you don’t drive, it is still worth investing in apartment insurance if you live independently. It may be worth asking family members to get it for you as a housewarming gift!
Make sure you understand your health insurance and know what’s available to you locally if you don’t have it. It’s a good year to seek preventative care early.
Make your bedrooms and rest spaces an oasis to the best of your ability. Here’s an article from 2012 on how to make DIY blackout curtains some of you might find handy!
Create your wills, living wills, and other uncomfortable but necessary documents. If you deal with them now you don’t have to think about them later!
Do a relationship audit - evaluate healthy and unhealthy relationships. Set aside the impulse to “solve” them because a better frame is more about putting up the right metaphorical fences.
Set up a working knowledge of charities, mutual aid societies, and networking organizations near you. Decide what area of community need is most important to you (pick ONE), and invest your time there.
If you are unable to leave your home due to chronic illness or mental health concerns, what can you do with the energy you have to make your environment a little more pleasant for you every day? If you still want to engage in a cause, consider what’s important to you - you can always explore online volunteer opportunities.
