Hello Curious Spirits and Magickal People!
While the Substack of the Dead will never fully disappear, it’s time to add variety to the conversation. Thus, I bring you my new series - Substack of Magickal Mistakes. I have a story to share, inspired by a conversation in the Spirited Witch Chat (freely available to all subscribers).
About Bindings
For context, someone had a question about a work that involved binding as an aspect. The question prompted a discussion thread that showed some diverse views on bindings.
It makes sense someone came to The Spirited Witch to ask. I am the author of Hex Twisting. The book has a few binding spells in it. Some of those spells are innovations on the practice.
What is a Binding?
A binding in folk magick practice is a spell that a)restricts energy or action, usually from a human person or b)ties together two or more entities. I learned how to bind from Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft and the first of The Craft movies. I do not recommend learning it in this way.
