Witchtober Weekend Starting tonight 10/19
Yet more goings on through the end of Official Spooky Season
When you practice witchcraft for as long as I have, AND you’re a parent, you end up with something of a love/hate relationship with October. The weather in the northern hemisphere is cooling, the colors are gorgeous, and the kids are just TOO busy. All normal enough, right?
Then you add #witchproblems: the veil is so thin, I’m braking for cars that shot through that stoplight forty years ago. My time is already on a budget, so naturally, that’s when all the surreal conversations with people I’ve never seen before or somehow only ever see in October through December find me. Part of my community service is psychopomp work for the dead that took some extra “walk time” after their year-and-a-day is up.* I must remind my middle child not to whistle when he takes the dog out at night; we’ve got enough of a crowd right now.
As of this week, I’m caring for an injured child while I put together the material for tonight’s class, prepare for tomorrow’s online author appearance, and play minor phone tag for the vending event on Saturday. The kiddo is doing better, but he needed enough help at first I’ve had to close out my tarot and consultation appointment calendar for the rest of the month.
So, the public calendar for the rest of October - and then my only official “public appearances” are Wicked Grounds classes and an installment of Left Unsupervised through the end of the year:
Tonight, 10/19 at 6 pm PDT/9 pm EDT Urban Magick: Healing Spirit of City and Land after Crisis ONLINE via Wicked Grounds.** Grab your spot in class here, ticket sales close one hour before the class begins: https://forbiddentickets.com/events/wicked-grounds/542a3cbf3c
All classes via Wicked Grounds are on a sliding scale, and there are some scholarship seats!
Tomorrow, Friday, 10/20 at 2 pm CDT, come join me online for the Llewellyn Author’s Forum on Samhain. You can reserve a spot here: https://www.crowdcast.io/c/lvaf-celebrating-samhain, and a lively chat has started. Attendance is free, and if your brain is not compatible with CrowdCast, Llewellyn is also broadcasting the event on Facebook live! (The event link is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/331124822657164/)
On Saturday, 10/21 from noon until midnight, I’ll be at Vallhalla Days, an event hosted by Norse Nectar Meadery in Kalamazoo at 3408 Miller Road! More details are here: https://norsenectar.com/valhalladay-2023/
Apparently, I am giving tarot readings at $20 for 15 minutes? OK! I will also be available to sign books and talk to you about your spooky problems. :)
*Let me know if you want me to share more about psychopomp work, death energy, and sacred endings.
**Wicked Grounds is an organization that teaches adult sexuality education and has an attached magick school called Magickal Crossroads. I have been a member of their community since 2015.
